Over the weekend, we hosted our very first When Alice Sleeps Create Club at a local school's Summer Festival and honestly, we couldn't have asked for a lovelier way to begin what we hope will become a regular part of the When Alice Sleeps adventure.

Our Create Club stand was one of the brightest and from the moment families started arriving, there was such a brilliant atmosphere. It was fantastic to see so many children (and grown-ups) embracing the creative activities we had put together especially for the day.

One of the biggest highlights was our giant bespoke Summer School Festival colouring poster, created exclusively for the event. Packed with playful illustrations inspired by school life, summertime and in our signature When Alice Sleeps illustrative style, it quickly became a colourful collaborative masterpiece. Throughout the day, children popped back to add more colour, proudly pointing out the sections they'd completed, while parents couldn't resist picking up a pen and joining in too!

Alongside our giant colouring mural, children also decorated their very own Alice Bunny masks and designed colourful bookmarks, with every creation as unique as the child who made it. Seeing the children proudly wearing their artwork masks around the festival or showing off their creative makes to family members as such a joy.

That's exactly what our 'Colour & Create Club' are all about! – encouraging children (and grown-ups) to get creative together and simply enjoy making something with their own hands.

As this was our very first school event, we weren't quite sure what to expect, but the response was beyond anything we could have hoped for. Watching our black-and-white artwork gradually come to life through hundreds of colourful contributions reminded us exactly why we started doing these in-person events: We provide the (nice-looking) canvas; the children bring it to life :)

A HUGE thank you to the amazing Maney Hill PTA Team for organising such a fantastic Summer Festival and to every family who stopped by to colour, create and chat with us. You made our very first school Create Club one to remember and we're already dreaming about the next one!

Here's hoping it's the first of many... we'd love to bring When Alice Sleeps Colour & Create Club to even more schools, cafés, family festivals and community events across Sutton Coldfield and beyond!

Join us this weekend

Our next When Alice Sleeps Create Club takes place this Sunday 12th July at Caffè Botanico in Sutton Coldfield and we'd love to see you there for another morning full of colouring, crafting and creativity.

Tickets are £4 per child, with adults attending alongside a child is completely free. As spaces are limited, tickets must be booked online in advance, as unfortunately we won't be able to take payment on the day.

Finally, if you're a school, café, community group, charity or business working with children, we'd love to chat about bringing a bespoke When Alice Sleeps Colour & Create Club session to your next event. Every session is tailored to your occasion, with exclusive artwork and activities designed especially for your audience – drop Cindy an email to connect.

Sign up to our mailing list to stay connected and be the first to hear about our CREATE CLUB sessions, storybooks and receive exclusive WAS printable activities and artwork.

Stay bright and well.

– Alice and friends
